Rajesh Kumar wins NASA's Group Achievement Award
RAL's Deputy Director honored for his contributions to the ASIA-AQ campaign
Congratulations to Rajesh Kumar for winning the prestigious NASA Group Achievement Award alongside his team members on the Asia Airborne and Satellite Investigation Team (ASIA-AQ campaign). The NASA Group Achievement Award recognized the international team for outstanding achievements in advancing the understanding of air quality with innovative observations over multiple Asian countries.
The ASIA-AQ initiative is an international collaboration partnering NASA with South Korea's National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) alongside local stakeholders across several Asian nations. The team leveraged three core layers of data collection to address localized and regional atmospheric challenges.
• Satellites: For broad, top-down regional viewpoints.
• Aircraft & Ground Instruments: Capturing localized, multi-perspective ambient data to better map the various influences of atmospheric air quality.
The open-source datasets produced by this team will continue to aid global governments and scientific institutions in their ability to refine air-quality forecast modeling and optimize public health strategies worldwide.
This award underpins Rajesh's legacy of international collaboration and respect. We are so proud and grateful for his many contributions.
