Fully-Coupled CFD/CSD for Turbine/Platform Interaction with the Atmosphere and Ocean
Penn State’s Cyberwind Facility is a multi-faceted modeling approach to fully coupling the atmospheric forcing with LES of the boundary layer, to marine boundary layer models, to well-resolved CFD of wave-induced platform motions, wake atmospheric turbulence, and fluid-structure interaction modeling of the turbine blades and towers. NCAR’s role is to provide WRF simulations of time evolving forcing conditions.
