About

NCAR/RAL has been working together with Liquid Robotics (a Boeing Company) and Integral (an ocean modeling company in California and Advanced Radar Company in Colorado developing a large multiyear project in Indonesia with BMKG (Weather Service of Indonesia). The talk will provide an overview of the project and potential for other applications. This talk was previously presented in Indonesia at a stakeholders workshop and at Liquid Robotics in Sunnyvale, California.

The integrated forecast system will be comprised of meteorological and oceanographic forecast subsystems, which will include three data assimilative models (meteorological, wave, and circulation) running simultaneously. As high-resolution wave and circulation models require fine scale inputs from meteorological forecast systems, the models will necessarily be coupled. The wave and ocean circulation models will receive forcing fields from the weather model, and the wave model will receive currents and water level from the ocean circulation model.
