About

The WRF-Fire tutorial is a great way to learn about the model's capabilities and how to use it for your research, with the opportunity to network with others in related fields.

The next online only tutorial will be hosted over three days: September 9th, 11th, and 13th, 2024 (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) with the agenda including example cases, independent learning, and supported discussion. Participants will be provided all necessary materials, instruction, and compute time to run idealized and realistic case study simulations. We encourage participants to attend virtual "open office hours" during the morning and/or afternoon sessions to facilitate discussion (exact times TBD). The tutorial will cover the basics of setting up and running WRF-Fire, as well as additional topics including implementing heterogenous fuel moisture content values across the domain; model assessment and visualization; and modifying the fuel input layer.

Previous experience with the WRF model is strongly encouraged! If you do not have prior experience with WRF, please brush up on the basics before the WRF-Fire tutorial here.

Registration deadline August 30, 2024
