New GIS Book: Unique Collaboration between Atmospheric and Geospatial Communities

Olga Wilhelmi, head of NCAR’s Geographic Information Science (GIS) program, is a co-editor of the new book, Mapping and Modeling Weather and Climate with GIS, a comprehensive volume on integrating weather and climate data in a GIS platform. The book is a collaboration of leading climatologists, meteorologists and engineers throughout the atmospheric sciences community, including NCAR and UCAR, and is geared toward scientists and practioners.
Topics include data and software resources, data representation, observations, modeling, data-model integration, web services, and other topics where current and potential areas of atmospheric and geospatial sciences cross.
